Om!
I bow to the God, Ganesha, He whose Splendor exceeds a Million Suns, requesting Him to bless my undertakings to be without obstacles.
I bow to the Guru who is verily the embodiment of the ParaAtman, to guide me in this endeavour.
For Hindus around the World, Nothing starts off without Invocation of the blessings of God Ganesha1, or paying respects to the Guru2.
As the huge 9-day festival of Navaratri or Dasara or Dussehra is underway for Hindus across the World, along with your support, I start this journey by first trying to depict Ganesha as well as I can, in my beginner state.
This Drawing, I could make courtesy the video by Vivek Arts3
Some of the idols of Ganesha regularly worshipped at homes, or in festivals, look like these:

I hope to be able to draw, in the future - to the extent possible - representations as the above images. One of my goals is to be learn to depict such complex forms visually - with not much more than hour of daily effort. And document that journey going forward :)

Onward To MARS! (sit down, Elon!).
Ganesha (also known as: Ganapati), the God, is the son of God Shiva and Goddess Parvati - who are part of the Trinity of God-Goddess couples that are at the Pinnacle of Hindu pantheon of Gods.
Ganesha Himself is the patron of arts, wisdom, Siddhi and remover of Obstacles.
The Guru is the most important person in Hindu life - the word itself meaning someone who guides to the path to seeking the ultimate truth i.e., Moksha.
